206 pieces of Western Zhou oracle bones were newly discovered in Shaanxi, including 180 oracle bone inscriptions
This reporter learned today (December 28) from the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology that after more than 80 years of unremitting exploration by several generations of archaeologists, archaeologists have confirmed the triple city walls of the Zhouyuan site in Baoji, Shaanxi Province during the Western Zhou Dynasty, greatly enriching the understanding of the settlement structure of the Zhouyuan site during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and further clarifying that the core area of the Zhouyuan site was the capital of the Western Zhou Dynasty.
In addition, archaeologists discovered the foundation of a large rammed earth building from the pre-Zhou period in the Wangjiazui area of the Zhouyuan site. This is the largest pre-Zhou cultural building site known to date, confirming that the area around Wangjiazui in Zhouyuan was the place where Gugong Danfu moved to Qi.
Another major discovery was the discovery of 206 pieces of Western Zhou oracle bones, including 180 oracle bone inscriptions, which provided valuable materials for the study of Western Zhou oracle bone studies and even Western Zhou history.
